Dr Malou Chicken & Cranberry – Urinary is a complete freeze-dried food specially formulated for cats requiring support for urinary tract health. The recipe combines a high proportion of chicken meat with cranberries and functional ingredients designed to support a healthy urinary environment.

When water is added, the freeze-dried food turns into a freshly prepared, juicy wet meal or light soup. This also makes it easy to increase your cat's fluid intake together with its food.

High chicken meat content

The recipe is based on 82% chicken breast, complemented by 7% chicken liver. Chicken provides a high proportion of animal protein and contributes to the naturally rich taste of the food.

A further 6% of the recipe consists of cranberries, included as part of the formulation designed to support normal urinary tract function.

Formula designed to support urinary tract health

Unlike the standard Dr Malou freeze-dried soups, this variety has a specifically targeted formula for urinary tract support.

It contains 3,000 mg/kg of DL-methionine, which supports urine acidification. The recipe also has a low magnesium content of 0.02% and a controlled phosphorus content of 0.9%. Together, these features help create an environment less favourable to the formation of struvite crystals.

Cranberries as part of the recipe

Cranberries make up 6% of the recipe and are traditionally associated with urinary tract support. Combined with the other functional ingredients, they form part of a comprehensive nutritional approach for cats requiring additional urinary tract support.

More fluids with every meal

One of the benefits of this type of food is the ability to easily increase the amount of fluid consumed together with the meal.

Add 60–100 ml of lukewarm water to one serving, leave for approximately one minute and mix thoroughly. Depending on the amount of water, you can prepare anything from juicy wet food to a light soup.

After preparation, the food contains approximately 84.3–89.9% moisture. The manufacturer states that increased fluid intake may help increase urine volume and support the prevention of recurring struvite stones.

Taurine, fish oil and FOS

The recipe also contains 1,300 mg/kg of taurine, fish oil as a source of omega-3 fatty acids and FOS to support the intestinal microflora.

It also contains psyllium, cellulose, a complex of vitamins and minerals and natural rosemary extract.

Complete food for cats

Dr Malou Chicken & Cranberry – Urinary is a complete food, not simply a complementary food or treat. Its recipe is designed to provide complete nutrition while also addressing the needs of cats requiring urinary tract support.

Gentle freeze-drying

During freeze-drying, the ingredients are frozen and water is then removed at low temperatures. The result is a lightweight food that is easy to store, portion and prepare.

Simply add water immediately before serving. This allows you to prepare a fresh meal with a high moisture content without conventional heat processing.

Grain-free and without unnecessary additives

The recipe is free from grains, gluten, soy, lactose and added salt. The manufacturer also states that it contains no preservatives, emulsifiers, flavour enhancers or artificial flavours.

Feeding recommendation and preparation

Approximate daily amount according to your cat's body weight:

• 1–2 kg: 2–3 portions per day
• 2–3 kg: 3–4 portions per day
• 4–5 kg: 5–6 portions per day
• 5–6 kg: 6–7 portions per day

Add water according to the desired consistency:

• 60 ml water – approximately 72 g of prepared food
• 80 ml water – approximately 92 g
• 100 ml water – approximately 112 g

Leave for approximately one minute after adding water and mix thoroughly. The prepared food should be consumed within 30 minutes.

Important information

This product is intended as a specialised dietetic food to support urinary tract health. The manufacturer recommends consulting a veterinarian or animal nutritionist before starting use or extending the period of use. The recommended initial period of use is up to 6 months.

Without veterinary consultation, the product is not recommended for growing kittens, pregnant or nursing cats, or cats with stones other than struvite stones.
