Dr Malou Chicken & Barley Grass – Complete Freeze-Dried Food for Cats

Give your cat a complete food with a high proportion of animal-derived ingredients in a convenient freeze-dried form. Dr Malou Chicken & Barley Grass combines chicken meat and liver with barley grass and other carefully selected ingredients.

After adding water, the freeze-dried food quickly turns into a juicy wet meal. You can adjust the amount of water according to the desired consistency – from regular wet food to a thicker or lighter meat soup.

High chicken meat content

The recipe is based on 82% chicken breast, complemented by 7% chicken liver. A further 6% consists of barley grass.

Chicken meat is a natural source of animal protein, while chicken liver contributes to the rich meaty flavour. Barley grass adds fibre to the recipe and forms part of the formulation designed to support normal digestion.

Barley grass and fibre

Barley grass makes up 6% of the recipe and provides a source of fibre. Together with cellulose and psyllium, it forms part of the recipe supporting normal intestinal function and the natural passage of food through the digestive tract.

The manufacturer also highlights its use in relation to helping reduce the formation and accumulation of hairballs.

Taurine and FOS

The food contains 1,300 mg/kg of taurine, an important part of a cat's diet.

The recipe also includes FOS, a prebiotic ingredient, together with a complex of vitamins and minerals.

Dr Malou Chicken & Barley Grass is a complete food, not simply a treat or complementary food. It is intended for everyday feeding.

The recipe combines a high proportion of animal-derived ingredients with additional nutrients needed for a balanced feline diet.

Freeze-dried food that is easy to prepare

Freeze-drying is a processing method in which water is removed from frozen ingredients. The result is a lightweight food that is easy to store, portion and prepare.

Before serving, simply add 60–100 ml of lukewarm water according to the desired consistency. Leave for approximately one minute and mix thoroughly.

Depending on the amount of water added, you can prepare:

• wet food – approximately 60 ml of water,
• thicker soup – approximately 80 ml of water,
• light soup – approximately 100 ml of water.

Once rehydrated, the food should be consumed within 30 minutes.

High moisture content after preparation

You can adjust the amount of water according to your cat's preferred consistency. Depending on the amount of water added, the prepared food can contain approximately 84.3–89.9% moisture.

This allows you to prepare the same food as either a thicker wet meal or a juicy soup.

Grain-free and without unnecessary additives

The recipe is free from grains, gluten, soy, lactose and added salt. The manufacturer also states that it contains no preservatives, emulsifiers, flavour enhancers or artificial flavours.

Feeding recommendation and preparation

Approximate daily amount according to your cat's body weight:

• 1–2 kg: 2–3 portions per day
• 2–3 kg: 3–4 portions per day
• 4–5 kg: 5–6 portions per day
• 5–6 kg: 6–7 portions per day

Recommended amount of water:

• 60 ml – approximately 72 g of prepared food
• 80 ml – approximately 92 g
• 100 ml – approximately 112 g

The daily amount should also be adjusted according to your cat's age, activity level and body condition.
